The presentation that I really enjoyed was Jake O’Neill. Jake talked about rap music and the impact of its lyrics. I liked how Jake related the rappers lyrics and meanings to societies views and the medias opinions.
Jake used lyrics from J Cole’s “Crooked Smile” and talked about societies views on beauty. Although he has money to fix his messed up teeth he will not pay to have them fixed. He takes pride inn who he is without forcing himself to conform to the pressures of society. Jake also used lyrics from the rapper Logic. The lyrics talked about how Logic was able to stay on the right track growing up while being surrounded by a world of chaos. He was raised in a family of drug addicts and criminals, but he made sure to get himself out of that situation. I do not think Jake’s presentation gave me a new view o things but I defiantly enjoyed it. I agreed with his presentation a lot. The lyrics in music can help motivate those during tough times and hard situations. It is a form of art in the case in which it speaks to us. The lyrics draw out emotion and create feeling for people.
